SLX 130 Overview:

The SLX 130 Submersible Level Transducer is typically used to monitor the level of sewage wet wells, chemical tanks, streams, clearwells, ground storage tanks and other liquid level-sensing applications.  The SLX 130's large 2.5" diameter Teflon(R) faced diaphragm is an excellent choice for liquids with a high concentration of suspended solids.

The SLX 130 has a 3.8" diameter (max.) PVC housing and a 2.5" diaphragm.  The housing is suited for use in chemically aggressive applications.  The plastic housing also provides excellent electrical isolation from surges which are typically encountered due to lightning.

SLX 130 is available in either of two outputs: 1) The SLX 130-M provides an industry standard, loop-powered 4-20 mADC output 2) the SLX 130-E is a three wire transducer with 5 VDC excitation and a 0.5-4.5 VDC ratiometric output (nominal).

The SLX 130-M and SLX 130-MIS (milliAmp Intrinsically Safe) is a two-wire loop-powered device that provides a 4-20 mADC output over the sensor's pressure range.  The SLX 130-M is available in standard ranges of 5, 10, 15 and 30 PSI.  The SLX 130-E is available in standard ranges of 5, 15 and 30 PSI.  The SLX 130-E can be combined with Contegra's T423 or T425 to provide a calibrated 4-20 mADC output over the customer's specified range (e.g. 4-20 mADC over 0-18' excursion).

The SLX 130-M has a 9.5 VDC lift-off voltage (nominal) and operates on a supply voltage of up to 28VDC.

The SLX 130 ’s sensor has a 0.25% typical accuracy.  The SLX 130 is pendent mounted (i.e. suspended) via its Kevlar®-strengthened signal cable.  Thus, the SLX 130 is appropriate for applications with low to moderate turbulence.  [Applications with high turbulence may benefit from the SLX 130’s ability to be pipe mounted.]

Types of Signal Cable:

·Four signal cable options are available:

  1. Teflon Jacketed
  • The ‘T2’ – A Two-Conductor Teflon® jacketed signal cable

The SLX submersible’s 2-conductor Teflon jacketed cable is a cost-effective option for the two-wire, loop-powered level transmitters such as the SLX 130-M, SLX 170-M or SLX 130-MIS.  The 2-conductor Teflon jacketed cable has identical jacketing (i.e. material and thickness) as the original “T” jacketed cable.  (NOTE: The 'T' designation has changed to T3.  See paragraph 1.b [below] re: ‘T3’ labeling).

The “T2” option provides a good, cost-effective solution to rising prices by removing the unused conductor (‘M’ sensors only) and commensurately reducing the amount of Teflon insulation and jacketing.

  • The ‘T3’ – A Three-Conductor Teflon® jacketed signal cable

The T3 (formerly denoted as ‘T’) is a three-conductor cable (Black, Red, White).  While the T3 is optional for the loop-powered milli-amp level transmitters (i.e. the M/MIS Level Tranmitters only use the Red ad Black wires), it is required for the SLX 130-E level transmitter (i.e. the sensor with a 0.5-4.5 VDC output).  Again, if the 3-conductor cable is used with an ‘M’ level transmitter (i.e. a loop-powered, milli-amp), only two of the conductors are used; the red and black

  1. TPE – Thermoplastic Elastomer  (For use with M or MIS Level Transmitters.)
  • ‘R’ = With Rodent Repellant - The TPE jacketed cable with Rodent Repellant is denoted by the ‘R’ in the PN (e.g. 50R = 50 feet of Rodent Repellant cable). The “R” cable is a black, two-conductor cable with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket.  The “R” (Ropellant™) cable contains a rodent repellant.
  • ‘W’ = w/o Rodent Repellant - The TPE jacketed cable without Rodent Repellant is denoted by the ‘W’ in the PN (e.g. 50W = 50 feet of TPE jacketed cable w/o Rodent Repellant). The “W” cable is a blue, two-conductor cable with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket.  (The “W” denotes the TPE jacketed cable “Without Rodent Repellant.”)
